The Institute of Immunology continues to take care of health

The Institute of Immunology has inherited the experience, knowledge and care for health in Republic of Croatia since the establishment of the Royal Institute for the Manufacture of Animal Vaccine Against Smallpox in Zagreb in 1893.

Thanks to the hard work of our experts and with the continuous support of our founder and owner – Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia performs the founder’s rights and duties) the Institute of Immunology, Zagreb – Public Health Institution is intensively working on accomplishing all set goals and plans for our manufacture revitalization. Our highest goal is to continue taking care of health in Croatia and around the world by providing our worldwide famous biological medicinal products: vaccines, sera and medicinal products from human blood or human plasma.
We believe in brighter future and look forward to the upcoming period and cooperation.

Activities

Manufacture of immunological medicinal products derived from human blood or human plasma (PDMP) and other biological medicinal products are the main activities of the Institute of Immunology.

Thanks to the systematic immunization of children with live – attenuated viral vaccines produced by the Institute of Immunology, measles and rubella have been practically eradicated in the Republic of Croatia, and the incidence of mumps has decreased for 98%. The measles live – attenuated vaccine, prepared with the Edmonston-Zagreb strain, was developed and perfected by experts from the Institute of Immunology. Hundreds of millions of doses have been administered to children in about thirty countries around the world without any reported adverse reaction or vaccine – related mortality. The World Health Organization (WHO) has assessed that the measles vaccine produced by the Institute of Immunology achieves exceptional immunological effects. Such an expert quality assessment has contributed to the global reputation of the Institute of Immunology, which has enabled the penetration of our products into the world market..

REVITALIZATION OF MANUFACTORING ACTIVITIES

The key manufacturing segments are the production of European Viper Venom Antiserum (Equine), medicinal products derived from human blood and plasma, viral vaccines and other biological medicinal products.

MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN RUGVICA

In the industrial zone in Rugvica, new manufacturing facilities will be built for the production of European Viper Venom Antiserum (Equine), processing of blood plasma and manufacture of medicinal products derived from human blood and plasma, as well as for the production of viral vaccines according to the existing (MMR) and mRNA technology.

The live – attenuated viral vaccines produced by the Institute of Immunology provide effective protection against the causative agents of the infectious disease’s measles and rubella. The Institute of Immunology is responsible for the manufacture of the active pharmaceutical ingredients, filling and finalization, primary and secondary packaging and quality control of viral vaccines.

Manufacturers of medicinal products and Marketing Authorization Holders (MAHs) in the Republic of Croatia must meet all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including approvals by competent authorities, and ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines, which include strict quality control during all stages of production to ensure the quality, efficacy and safety of the medicinal product.
