The Institute of Immunology continues to take care of health
The Institute of Immunology has inherited the experience, knowledge and care for health in Republic of Croatia since the establishment of the Royal Institute for the Manufacture of Animal Vaccine Against Smallpox in Zagreb in 1893.
Thanks to the hard work of our experts and with the continuous support of our founder and owner – Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia performs the founder’s rights and duties) the Institute of Immunology, Zagreb – Public Health Institution is intensively working on accomplishing all set goals and plans for our manufacture revitalization. Our highest goal is to continue taking care of health in Croatia and around the world by providing our worldwide famous biological medicinal products: vaccines, sera and medicinal products from human blood or human plasma.
We believe in brighter future and look forward to the upcoming period and cooperation.
Activities
Manufacture of immunological medicinal products, medicinal products derived from human blood or human plasma (PDMP) and other biological medicinal products are the main activities of the Institute of Immunology.
The use of measles, mumps and rubella vaccine in the Republic of Croatia through the national vaccination program in previous decades has led to a significant reduction in the incidence of these diseases. The measles vaccine used in the program was developed by the experts from the Institute of Immunology and was used in numerous countries in accordance with the decisions of the competent health authorities. Like all approved vaccines, it was used based on a benefit-risk assessment conducted by regulatory agencies. Epidemiological data and the safety profile of the vaccine were regularly monitored during te period of its use.

REVITALIZATION OF MANUFACTORING ACTIVITIES
The key manufacturing segments are the production of European Viper Venom Antiserum (Equine), medicinal products derived from human blood and plasma, viral vaccines and other biological medicinal products.

MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN RUGVICA
In the industrial zone in Rugvica, new manufacturing facilities will be built for the production of European Viper Venom Antiserum (Equine), processing of blood plasma and manufacture of medicinal products derived from human blood and plasma, as well as for the production of viral vaccines according to the existing (MMR) and mRNA technology.

The Plasma project is crucial for ensuring the continuous supply of the Republic of Croatia with life -saving plasma – derived medicinal products.

VIRAL VACCINES
Viral vaccines produced by the Institute of Immunology provided protection against the infectious diseases measles and rubella. The Institute of Immunology produced vaccines from the active pharmaceutical ingredients up to the finished product and performed quality control. These activities are now included in the project for the revitalization of manufacturing activities, which is restoring the processes and capacities necessary to restore the availability of viral vaccines.

PRODUCTION OF EUROPEAN VIPER VENOM ANTISERUM (EQUINE)
The use of European Viper Venom Antiserum (Equine) manufactured by the Institute of Immunology is the best guarantee of safety and protection of people and animals from the snake – bite envenoming of bites of five poisonous European snakes.

Manufacturers of medicinal products and Marketing Authorization Holders (MAHs) in the Republic of Croatia must meet all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including approvals by competent authorities, and ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines, which include strict quality control during all stages of production to ensure the quality, efficacy and safety of the medicinal product.
