Activities of the Institute of Immunology
The manufacture of immunological medicinal products, medicinal products derived from human blood or human plasma and other biological medicinal products is the main activity of the Institute of Immunology.
The Institute of Immunology has a long-standing tradition in the development and production of viral vaccines, including vaccines that were used in national vaccination programs in the Republic of Croatia. The Edmonston-Zagreb measles virus vaccine strain and the rubella virus vaccine strain developed at the Institute of Immunology, were used in international vaccination programs in numerous countries. Such programs have contributed to the successful control of diseases such as measles, rubella and mumps, in accordance with the recommendations of competent health institutions. The use of vaccines and the results of vaccination are subject to continuous monitoring and evaluation by competent health institutions.
Successful clinical use for half a century, and the absence of complications during use, place the European Viper Venom Antiserum (Equine) among the best products of its kind in the world. The use of European Viper Venom Antiserum (Equine) produced by the Institute of Immunology provides safety and effective protection from the snake – bite envenoming of bites from European snakes from the snake – bite envenoming by European snakes from the family Viperidae (genus Vipera).
More than half a century ago, the Institute of Immunology began manufacturing medicinal products derived from human blood or human plasma. The Institute of Immunology produces blood derivatives exclusively from plasma collected in the Republic of Croatia in full accordance with the Council of Europe, Recommendation – Rec(2002)11, which states that plasma of its own origin intended for its own population are also the best solution.
The Institute’s activities are:
- manufacture of immunological medicinal products, medicinal products derived from human blood or human plasma and other biological medicinal products;
- manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients intended for the production of biological medicinal products;
- manufacture of medical devices;
- wholesale distribution of medicinal products and medical devices;
- scientific research and development activities in the field of biomedicine;
- education in the field of manufacture and quality control of biological medicinal products;
- clinical trials and mediation in clinical trials;
- consulting services related to the activities of the Institute of Immunology.
-
- The Institute of Immunology may also perform other activities that serve to the performance of the main activities, if they are performed on a smaller scale or are usually performed in addition to the activities of the Institute of Immunology, such as:
- storage and keeping of MASTER SEEDS OF VIRUS STRAINS (Master seed of measles virus, Master seed of rubella virus, Master seed of mumps virus),
- quality control testing of medicinal products.
Note: The Institute of Immunology is working intensively on revitalizing its manufacturing operations. In the meantime, our products will not be available (animal blood, animal blood – derived products, vaccines, medicinal products derived from human plasma).
